Game description:

Deblock (Japan) is a distinct puzzle game developed and published by Athena for the Nintendo Famicom in 1991. While it looks similar to traditional block-falling titles, it introduces a unique twist: instead of maneuvering the pieces as they drop, you control the structure they land on, shifting the entire stack to clear lines.

How to Play

Your objective is to clear blocks by matching them, but you do so by rotating and moving the central platform rather than steering the incoming pieces. You can manipulate the stack from different sides to find the right fit. Use the Arrow Keys to move or rotate the structure, the Z and X keys (mapping to the NES A and B buttons) for actions, and Enter/Shift for Start and Select.

Tips

  • Focus on the shape of the incoming block early, as moving the entire board requires more spatial awareness than just dropping a piece.
  • Keep the structure as compact as possible; letting the blocks stack too high on one side will limit your rotation options.
