Clu Clu Land is a unique arcade-style maze and puzzle game developed by Nintendo, originally released for the NES in 1985. You play as Bubbles, a fish trying to recover all the stolen gold bars scattered across the Rupee Sea. Instead of typical movement, Bubbles automatically moves forward and you must grab onto turn posts to swing around and change direction, uncovering the hidden gold bars by passing over their locations.
How to Play
Your objective is to find and reveal all the hidden gold bars in each stage before the timer runs out. You cannot change direction directly; you must extend your hand to grab the scattered pegs and swing around them to navigate. Avoid the Sea Urchins (Unira) that bounce around the map, and be careful of the black holes. The default NES controls in the browser are the arrow keys for directional movement (which extends your hand to grab posts), and the Z and X keys to attack with sonic waves.
Tips
- Stun your enemies: You can shoot sonic waves to push the Unira away. If you push them into a wall, they become stunned, allowing you to defeat them for extra points and clear the screen.
- Map memorization helps: The hidden gold bars always form a symmetrical pattern or a specific shape in each level. Once you reveal a few bars, try to guess the overall shape to find the rest more efficiently.
