Game description:

City Adventure Touch – Mystery of Triangle is an action-adventure game released for the NES in 1987 by Compile and Toho. Based on the popular anime and manga series Touch, the game places you in a bizarre, alternate-dimension version of Tokyo. Rather than following the sports theme of the original series, you must explore a maze-like city to defeat strange enemies, buy items, and find missing pets.

How to Play

Your main objective is to navigate the non-linear city and rescue 10 missing puppies. You can play as the twin brothers Tatsuya and Kazuya, swapping between them to utilize their shared inventory and health. Defeating enemies increases your energy counter, which doubles as currency to spend at various shops on weapons and essential items.

  • Arrow Keys (D-pad): Move around the city
  • Z (B Button): Attack
  • X (A Button) + Arrow Keys: Select an item
  • Z + X (A + B Buttons): Use an item
  • Shift (Select): Switch between the two brothers
  • Enter (Start): Pause the game (press Shift while paused to see your password)

Tips

  • You can find your first puppy immediately when starting the game just by walking into it. Afterwards, head to the “Minamizake” house to acquire a Baseball, which serves as a vital early weapon.
  • Energy is both your health and your money. Be careful not to spend all your energy at shops, or you will be left vulnerable to enemy attacks.
  • Boss monsters cannot be defeated with standard attacks. If you are stuck, you likely need to find a specific shop to purchase the correct item to progress.
