Game description:

Chik Bik Ji Jin – Saam Gwok Ji is an unlicensed side-scrolling beat ’em up developed by NTDEC and released for the NES in 1993. Operating as an unofficial 8-bit port of Capcom’s arcade hit Warriors of Fate, the game lets players choose from several legendary generals from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms era to battle against the forces of warlord Cao Cao. Despite its unofficial status, it stands out as a surprisingly smooth and well-crafted brawler for the hardware, even featuring two-player cooperative play.

How to Play

The objective is to fight your way through waves of enemy soldiers and defeat the boss at the end of each stage. For the standard NES controls, use the D-pad to move your general, A to jump, and B to attack. In your browser, these are mapped to the Arrow Keys, X (A), and Z (B). Press Start (Enter) to begin and Select (Shift) to make selections.

Tips

  • Combine your jump and attack buttons to perform a crowd-clearing special move when surrounded, though use it carefully as it will drain a small amount of your health.
  • Smash barrels and wooden crates found throughout the stages to uncover health-restoring food and powerful temporary weapons like swords and bows.
