Castle of Dr. Brain is an educational puzzle adventure developed by Sierra On-Line for DOS in 1991. Rather than relying on inventory combinations or quick reflexes, your progress through the eccentric scientist’s fortress depends entirely on solving a wide variety of logic, math, word, and memory puzzles. Each room presents its own unique set of brain teasers that must be cracked to unlock the doors and reach the next challenge.
How to play
Your objective is to navigate the castle’s many rooms by successfully completing the puzzles within them. The game uses a point-and-click interface, controlled with your mouse to interact with the environment, manipulate puzzle elements, and move between areas. You can also use the keyboard for specific text-based inputs when prompted.
Tips
- Pay close attention to your surroundings; some clues for the puzzles are subtly hidden within the room’s background art.
- If you find yourself completely stuck on a puzzle, use hint coins to get help or adjust the difficulty slider to make the challenge easier.
- Keep a physical notepad handy, as you will often need to write down patterns, sequences, or deciphered codes to reference later.
