Based on the early-nineties animated series, Captain Planet and the Planeteers is an action game released for the NES in 1992. Published by Mindscape, the game tasks you with stopping eco-villains from polluting the Earth. The gameplay is split into two distinct styles: side-scrolling shooter stages where you pilot the Planeteers’ vehicles to dodge hazards and reach enemy bases, and tough platforming levels where you control Captain Planet himself to battle through the strongholds.
How to play
In the vehicle stages, your goal is to safely navigate past enemies and obstacles. Once inside a base, you take control of Captain Planet to defeat the pollution-spreading villains. The game uses standard NES controls, mapped to your keyboard in the browser:
- Movement / Aiming: Arrow Keys
- Jump / Accelerate: Z
- Attack / Use Power: X
- Start / Pause: Enter
- Select: Shift
Tips
- Watch your power: Captain Planet’s power meter acts as his health. Touching pollution or getting hit by enemies will drain it rapidly.
- Conserve elemental shots: Using Captain Planet’s ranged elemental attacks costs power. Rely on his standard punch when possible to avoid depleting your health.
