Released by SEGA Enterprises in 1982, Buck Rogers: Planet of Zoom brings the fast-paced, pseudo-3D arcade rail shooter to the Atari 2600. You pilot a fighter ship over the surface of an alien planet, navigating through tight trenches and deep space while dodging or destroying waves of oncoming enemy craft.
How to Play
Your objective is to survive as long as possible and achieve a high score by shooting down alien ships. The ship accelerates automatically, so your focus is entirely on steering and firing. Use the arrow keys to maneuver around the screen and press X to fire your lasers. You can select between game variations using the Shift key before starting with Enter, while the Q and A keys adjust the difficulty switches for novice or expert play.
Tips
- Focus on anticipating the movement patterns of the enemy ships, as they tend to fly in predictable formations.
- When navigating the trench sections, stay near the middle of the screen to give yourself the most time to react to the electron posts that appear on the sides.
