Game description:

Buck Bumble is a 1998 3D action shooter for the Nintendo 64, developed by Argonaut Games. You play as the titular Buck Bumble, a cyborg bee equipped with advanced weaponry, fighting to defend the insect world from the mutant Evil Herd. Known for its incredibly catchy UK garage theme song, the game features full 360-degree flight, allowing you to hover, dive, and strafe through large outdoor environments while blasting enemy bugs.

How to Play

The objective is to navigate each level, complete specific mission goals like destroying enemy generators or defending allied bases, and eliminate members of the Evil Herd. The controls are built for aerial combat: use the analog stick to fly and steer, Z to fire your primary weapon, and the A and B buttons to switch between and use secondary weapons. Use the C buttons to control your altitude and strafe side-to-side, which is essential for dodging incoming fire.

Tips

  • Master strafing: Hovering in place makes you an easy target. Always use the C-buttons to strafe in circles around tougher enemies while firing.
  • Manage your ammo: While your basic plasma blaster has infinite ammo, stronger weapons are limited. Save your heavy ordnance for bosses and heavily armored mutant bugs.
  • Look for nectar: Collect glowing nectar drops scattered around the levels to replenish your health and keep Buck flying.
