Brandish is a distinctive top-down dungeon-crawling action RPG developed by Nihon Falcom and brought to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1995. Originally released for the NEC PC-9801, the game follows the bounty hunter Ares as he attempts to escape a massive underground labyrinth. It is most famous for its unique camera system, where turning your character causes the entire game world to rotate 90 degrees around you.
How to Play
Your objective is to navigate upward through the labyrinth’s floors, solving puzzles, defeating monsters, and finding keys to unlock new areas. SNES controls in the browser default to the Arrow Keys for movement (D-pad), Z/X/A/S for the SNES face buttons (A/B/X/Y) to attack and interact, Q/W for the L/R shoulder buttons, and Enter/Shift for Start and Select.
Tips
- The world rotation can be disorienting at first. Keep a close eye on your auto-map to maintain your bearings after turning a corner.
- You can rest at any time to slowly regenerate your health, but be sure to clear the immediate area first, as enemies will continue to roam while you recover.
- Weapons have durability and will eventually break. Always carry spare swords and check weapon condition before engaging in tough fights.
