Game description:

Released in 1990 by RCM, Block Force is an unlicensed NES puzzle-shooter that borrows heavily from Konami’s Quarth. Instead of guiding falling blocks into place, you pilot a spaceship at the bottom of the screen and fire blocks upward into a descending geometric mass. The goal is to form complete squares or rectangles, which causes those sections to vanish and prevents the encroaching blocks from crushing your ship.

How to Play

Move your ship left and right beneath the descending blocks and shoot your own blocks upward to complete solid shapes. The larger the completed rectangle, the higher your score. If any part of the falling block structure touches the bottom of the screen, the game is over.

Tips

  • Look for large rectangles: Clearing a larger shape yields more points than clearing multiple small squares, so build upward strategically before sealing a block.
  • Clear the lowest points first: Prioritize sections that are closest to the bottom of the screen to buy yourself more time.
