Developed by Rare and released in 1997, Blast Corps is a unique action-puzzle game for the Nintendo 64. A malfunctioning, runaway nuclear missile carrier is continuously moving toward its destination, and it is up to your demolition team to clear a safe path. You take command of a varied fleet of construction and military vehiclesโranging from bulldozers and dump trucks to giant rolling mechsโto level buildings, bridge gaps, and solve environmental puzzles before the carrier collides with anything and detonates.
How to Play
Your objective is to destroy all structures in the carrier’s path and solve terrain puzzles to ensure its safe passage. The game relies on standard Nintendo 64 controls, mapped in-browser to your arrow keys for steering, while your action buttons (A, B, and the Z trigger) handle acceleration, braking, and vehicle-specific abilities like boosting or swinging mechs.
Tips
- Master the Backlash: The dump truck destroys buildings by drifting into them rear-first. Build up speed and initiate a sharp turn to slide its heavy back end into structures.
- Find the hidden vehicles: Keep an eye out for glowing squares or hidden paths in the terrain, which often lead to alternate vehicles that make clearing the stage much easier.
- Switch constantly: You can exit a vehicle at any time to enter another one. Don’t waste time trying to clear an entire stage with the wrong machine if a better one is parked nearby.
