Bio Force Ape is a wildly fast-paced, unreleased action beat ’em up for the NES. Developed by Seta Corporation around 1991, the game was famously canceled before release and became the stuff of internet legend until a genuine prototype was dumped in 2010. You play as a pet chimpanzee who consumes a mysterious serum to become a super-powered mutant ape on a mission to rescue his kidnapped human family from bizarre hybrid monsters.
How to Play
Your objective is to navigate through high-speed, side-scrolling levels and defeat enemies using professional wrestling moves. Move the ape with the Arrow Keys, jump using X (A button), and attack using Z (B button). Enter acts as Start, and Shift acts as Select. Grapple enemies by walking into them, then use combinations of directions and the attack button to perform devastating suplexes and piledrivers.
Tips
- Keep moving: The game’s incredibly fast scrolling means you need to react quickly. Don’t linger too long in one spot.
- Master the grapple: Regular attacks are okay, but throwing enemies does massive damage and can help clear crowds.
