Batman Bros. Co-Op is a full-conversion ROM hack of the original Super Mario Bros. for the NES, created by NesDraug and finalised in 2019. Built upon a two-player simultaneous engine, this hack allows two players to team up cooperatively through the classic platformer. The game replaces Mario and Luigi with an aging Bruce Wayne and his “Batclone”, on a mission to rescue Robin. The familiar Mushroom Kingdom is transformed with altered levels, custom palettes, and Batman-themed power-ups where bat masks replace mushrooms and Batarangs take the place of fire flowers.
How to Play
Work together to navigate the modified platforming levels without getting in each other’s way. The controls match the standard NES scheme:
- D-pad (Arrow Keys): Move and duck
- A (Z): Jump
- B (X): Run or throw Batarangs (when powered up)
- Start (Enter): Pause the game
Tips
- Coordinate your jumps: In a simultaneous two-player platformer, communication is key to avoid pushing your partner off ledges.
- Share the power-ups: Decide who needs the bat masks or Batarang upgrades the most before picking them up.
