Bases Loaded II: Second Season is a classic baseball sports game developed by Tose and published by Jaleco for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990. Following the success of the original, this sequel brings updated rosters, a challenging 130-game season mode, and an innovative “biorhythm” system that tracks player performance and fatigue over time, forcing you to manage your pitchers and batters strategically.
How to Play
Your objective is to lead one of the six available fictional teams through a full season to win the pennant. The game relies on standard NES browser controls: use the Arrow Keys (D-Pad) to aim your pitches, control your fielders, or move the batter in the box. Press Z (A button) to swing, throw the ball to a base, or throw a pitch. Use X (B button) to cancel throws, run bases, or attempt a pickoff. Press Enter (Start) to pause the game and access the bullpen or substitution menu.
Tips
- Monitor Biorhythms: Pay close attention to your players’ biorhythm charts before a game. A star player on a down cycle will perform significantly worse than a bench player who is peaking.
- Master the Pickoff: The AI loves to steal bases. Frequently step off the mound or attempt pickoff throws (Direction + X) to keep runners close to the bag.
- Work the Strike Zone: Don’t just throw fastballs down the middle. Use the D-pad while the pitch in flight to curve the ball and catch the batter looking at the corners.
