🎮 Play Barbarian Online (DOS)

Barbarian is a 1987 action-platformer developed by Psygnosis for DOS. Rather than a typical arcade game, it puts you in the boots of Hegor on a quest to defeat the necromancer Necron using an unconventional, highly deliberate interface.

How to play

Instead of direct real-time movement, you control Hegor through an icon-driven menu at the bottom of the screen. You must select the specific action you want to perform—such as walking, jumping, or swinging a sword—before executing it. In the browser emulator, use the arrow keys to cycle through the command icons and press Enter to confirm your selection.

Tips

• Combat is slow because of the menu system. Draw your weapon and queue your attack well before an enemy is in striking distance.
• If you find yourself overwhelmed, it is often smarter to retreat to an adjacent screen rather than trying to menu-navigate your way through a crowded fight.
