Game description:

Banjo-Kazooie: Gruntilda’s Mask is a highly regarded Nintendo 64 ROM hack released by Kurko Mods in 2019. It drops Banjo and Kazooie straight into Clock Town from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. The familiar 3D platforming of the original game is adapted to this iconic Zelda setting, complete with custom music and writing. In this crossover adventure, Gruntilda has discovered a mask bearing a striking resemblance to Majora’s Mask, and she uses its dark power to threaten the town.

How to Play

Your objective is to explore Clock Town and stop Gruntilda by finding all the collectibles hidden throughout the environment. The game features 100 Notes, 20 Jiggies, 18 Honeycomb pieces, and 20 Mumbo Tokens to collect. In the browser, the standard N64 controls apply: use the arrow keys to move, Z for the A button, X for the B button, and the Enter key for Start. Master Banjo’s varied moveset to reach every Jiggy.

Tips

  • Explore thoroughly: Clock Town has been rebuilt for platforming, so check rooftops and hidden corners that might have been inaccessible in the original Zelda game.
  • Talk to everyone: The custom dialogue often holds hints about Jiggy locations or just fun references to both franchises.
