Banana is a fixed-screen action puzzle game developed by Victor Musical Industries and released for the Famicom (NES) in 1986. Players control Mole, an industrious subterranean creature navigating grid-based underground levels to harvest fruits and rescue his lost companion. Every stage requires careful pathfinding through soil and rock, balancing greed for collectibles against the danger of collapsing terrain.
How to Play
Guide Mole through each single-screen cavern, digging through dirt tiles to clear paths toward bananas, apples, and cherries. You must collect all required fruit across the stage to open the exit ladder while avoiding wandering enemy critters. Boulders suspended in dirt will fall straight down when the earth directly beneath them is cleared; use these physics to crush enemies, but take care not to crush Mole or seal off critical escape routes.
Controls: Use the Arrow Keys (D-Pad) to move Mole up, down, left, and right through the dirt. Press Z or X (A/B Buttons) to perform actions, Enter for Start, and Shift for Select.
Tips & Strategy
Plan your digging route from the top down whenever possible. Digging beneath heavy rocks without a safe retreat path will cause them to fall directly on Mole, resulting in an instant loss. You can also trigger falling rocks intentionally to eliminate patrolling monsters or open up previously blocked passages.
