Balloon Monster is an unlicensed arcade action game released for the NES by NTDEC in 1991. Heavily inspired by the classic arcade game Pang (also known as Buster Bros.), the game challenges you to clear 50 stages of bouncing balloons that split into progressively smaller pieces when shot.
How to Play
Your goal is to destroy all the balloons in each stage without letting any of them touch you. You are armed with a vertical-firing weapon. When you shoot a large balloon, it splits into two medium balloons, which in turn split into smaller ones until they are completely destroyed. Use the Arrow Keys to move your character left and right, press Z or X to shoot your weapon, and use Enter to start or pause the game.
Tips
- Control the crowd: Try to completely destroy one large balloon and all of its smaller pieces before popping another large balloon. Having too many small balloons bouncing around at once makes the screen extremely difficult to navigate.
- Avoid the corners: If you get trapped in a corner by a large balloon, you can easily be crushed when it splits. Try to stay near the middle of the screen so you have room to run under bouncing pieces.
