Game description:

Developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo in 1990, Backgammon for the Famicom Disk System is a comprehensive digital adaptation of the classic board game. Produced under the supervision of the Japan Backgammon Association, the game features a musical score by renowned composer Koichi Sugiyama. Despite being a Japan-exclusive release, the interface is largely in English, making it very accessible.

The objective of backgammon is to move all of your fifteen checkers around the board and bear them off before your opponent does, based on the roll of two dice. Use the D-pad (mapped to the arrow keys) to select your checkers and choose their destination on the board. Press A (the Z key) to confirm your moves and roll the dice.

Tips

  • In Tournament Mode, you can earn a virtual certificate of commendation from the Japan Backgammon Association by consistently winning matches.
  • The game includes a helpful training mode if you are new to backgammon or need to brush up on strategies before facing a skilled opponent.
