Game description:

B3313 (v0.7) is an expansive, psychological horror-tinged ROM hack for the Nintendo 64 that turns Super Mario 64 into a sprawling exploration of liminal spaces and internet urban legends. Inspired by the “every copy is personalized” creepypasta and alleged 1995 beta builds, it features a massive, labyrinthine castle with hundreds of stars, non-linear progression, and a distinctly eerie, abandoned atmosphere that constantly shifts around the player.

How to play

The game relies on classic platforming mechanics within a massive, maze-like environment. The controls match the original Nintendo 64 scheme: use the analog stick (mapped to your arrow keys) to move, A (X) to jump, B (Z) to attack or dive, and Z (Shift) to crouch or ground pound. Use the C-buttons (WASD) to adjust your camera, which is crucial for navigating the hack’s disorienting architecture.

Tips

  • Pay close attention to your surroundings; the castle’s layout can change unexpectedly and corridors often loop in impossible ways.
  • The camera can sometimes get caught in narrow, uncanny hallways, so actively manage it to avoid being surprised by hazards.
  • Embrace getting lost. There is no traditional linear path, and exploring seemingly broken or anomalous areas is the key to finding stars.
