How to Play
Your objective is to pilot the Axelay fighter and defeat the alien armada threatening the Illis solar system. Use the arrow keys to steer your ship. The primary SNES action buttons are mapped to your keyboard’s Z, X, A, and S keys for firing, while Q and W function as the L and R shoulder buttons to cycle through your equipped weapons. Tips
- Weapon Management: Taking a direct hit from a projectile disables your currently selected weapon rather than destroying your ship outright. If you cannot dodge an incoming shot, quickly switch to your least useful weapon to sacrifice it instead of losing a life.
- Macromissiles: The forward-firing Macromissile is devastating against bosses, particularly in the vertical Mode 7 stages where it can obliterate massive targets quickly.
- Watch the Horizon: During vertical stages, enemies sweep in from the warped background. Staying near the lower-middle of the screen gives you the most time to react and position your shots.
