Astro Robo Sasa is an inventive action-shooter released for the NES by ASCII in 1984. Instead of standard platforming, the game replaces jumping and walking with a physics-based flight system driven entirely by your weapon’s recoil.
How to play
Your objective in each stage is to collect all the scattered energy capsules to progress. Your gun is your only tool for movement: firing down pushes you up, and firing laterally pushes you in the opposite direction. Ammunition and health are tied to a single energy pool, meaning every shot you fire to move or break obstacles directly drains your life.

Tips
- Conservation is key: Since every shot costs energy, plan your trajectories carefully and avoid spamming the fire button to move.
- Stun, don’t kill: Enemies cannot be permanently destroyed, only temporarily stunned. It is often safer and more energy-efficient to maneuver around them.
- Share energy: In two-player mode, the B button allows players to transfer energy to one another, which can save a run if one player runs dangerously low.
