Game description:

Aspic – Majaou no Noroi is a 1988 action role-playing game for the Famicom Disk System, developed by Xtalsoft and published by Bothtec exclusively in Japan. It’s a sequel to Xtalsoft’s PC game Lizard, carrying over the same hero, Samson, who sets out to defeat the demon king Aspic and lift the curse holding the princess of Okalf Castle. What sets it apart is its ending: rather than branching outcomes, the story closes on one grim note — after Samson beats Aspic and frees the princess, the king turns on him over the very curse he broke and banishes him from the castle.

How to Play

The game shifts between three viewpoints: the overworld is explored top-down, dungeons switch to a first-person view, and battles play out in side-view. Controls use the default NES mapping: arrow keys move Samson and navigate menus, Z is the B button, X is the A button, Enter is Start, and Shift is Select.
