Asmik-kun Land is a 1991 action-platformer developed by Graphic Research for the Famicom (NES), starring the company’s pink dinosaur mascot, Asmik-kun (known as Boomer in the West). In this Japan-exclusive release, you guide him across six themed worlds to recover magical fragments and awaken the Dragon King.
How to Play
Navigate the perilous side-scrolling levels carefully, as Asmik-kun can be defeated in a single hit. Use the D-pad (Arrow keys) to move and the A/B buttons (Z/X keys) to jump and use your tail-whip attack. Striking enemies with your tail turns them into eggs, which can be collected and spent as currency at in-game shops to purchase helpful upgrades and extra lives.
Tips
- Keep an eye out for shops hidden throughout the levels to exchange your collected eggs for valuable items like time-stops.
- Boss encounters are unique: instead of standard combat, you will face off against them in games of Rock-Paper-Scissors (Janken).
- Avoid environmental hazards like walnuts, which give Asmik-kun the hiccups and temporarily scramble your movement and jumping controls.
