Taito’s Arkanoid is a legendary 1986 action game that brought the classic block-breaking arcade experience to DOS. Controlling the Vaus space vessel, players deflect an energy ball against formations of colored bricks, navigating through increasingly difficult stages.

How to play

Clear each stage by destroying all the destructible bricks. Catch falling capsules to gain power-ups like the laser (to shoot blocks directly), the catch ability (to hold the ball), or multiball. In the browser, use the arrow keys to move the paddle left and right, and press Space to launch the ball or fire lasers.

Tips

• The laser power-up (L) is invaluable for quickly clearing dense block formations and safely dealing with enemies.
• Keep your focus on the ball rather than the paddle to improve your reaction time as the ball speeds up.
• Catching the Expand capsule (E) widens your paddle, making it significantly easier to keep the ball in play during chaotic moments.
