Game description:

Released by Pack-In-Video in 1988 for the Famicom in Japan and translated into English by Vice, Airwolf is a side-scrolling shoot ’em up based on the popular 1980s television series. Players pilot the advanced Airwolf military helicopter through enemy-infested skies, destroying anti-aircraft installations, engaging enemy fighters, and rescuing hostages from military outposts.

How to Play

Guide Airwolf across mission airspace, avoiding incoming artillery fire and enemy aircraft. Navigate through defense networks to target enemy installations, extract stranded personnel, and return safely to base. Browser controls for the NES emulator are mapped as follows:

  • Arrow Keys (D-Pad): Steer the helicopter up, down, left, and right
  • Z Key (A Button): Fire primary machine gun cannon
  • X Key (B Button): Launch heavy missiles
  • Shift Key (Select): Switch weapon configurations / select menu options
  • Enter (Start): Pause game / Start mission

Tips & Strategy

  • Maintain Altitude Control: Avoid flying too close to ground batteries or mountain terrain where anti-aircraft flak can trap your helicopter against enemy fire.
  • Save Missiles for Hard Targets: Use your primary cannon for incoming fighters and reserve heavy missiles for heavily armored ground installations and boss structures.
