Air Raid is a 1982 action shooter for the Atari 2600, published by Men-A-Vision. It is arguably best known today as one of the rarest titles ever released for the console, famously packaged in a distinctive blue T-shaped cartridge. Gameplay itself is a fast-paced fixed shooter where you pilot a ship moving horizontally across the screen, defending the buildings below from incoming waves of saucers, helicopters, and bombers.
How to Play
Your objective is to destroy the attacking aircraft before they can demolish the city underneath you. Use the arrow keys to move your ship and press X to fire. Enter resets the game, and Shift functions as the Select button. You can also use Q and A to toggle the left difficulty switch between Novice and Expert modes, or F and V to switch between black-and-white and color display modes.
Tips
Since enemy waves approach in set formations, survival relies heavily on memorising their attack patterns. Focus on positioning yourself directly under their flight paths early, rather than scrambling across the screen once the sky fills with targets.
