Adventures of Lolo is a classic puzzle game developed by HAL Corporation and released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989. You control a round, blue creature named Lolo as he navigates through a series of single-screen, room-based puzzles in the Great Devil’s castle to rescue his beloved Lala. The gameplay combines grid-based movement with methodical block-pushing logic and careful timing.
The objective in each room is to collect all of the Heart Framers, which opens the jewel box containing a key that unlocks the door to the next level. Use the arrow keys (D-pad) to move Lolo around the grid. You can fire magic shots using the Z key (A button) to temporarily turn enemies into eggs. These eggs can then be pushed to block deadly line-of-sight attacks, trap other enemies, or be pushed into water to ride across.
Tips
- Medusas will instantly strike if you cross their line of sight. Always ensure there is a block or an egged enemy between Lolo and a Medusa before stepping into its row or column.
- You do not have unlimited magic shots; they are granted only by collecting certain Heart Framers. Think carefully before shooting, as you may need those shots for a specific puzzle step.
- If you push a block into the wrong spot and trap yourself, press the Shift key (Select) to immediately restart the room instead of waiting to be defeated.
