Originally a pioneering shareware hit on MS-DOS, The Adventures of Captain Comic was brought to the NES in 1989 by unlicensed publisher Color Dreams. This open-ended action platformer sends you to the hostile planet Tambi to recover three stolen treasures. Rather than moving stage by stage, you explore a large interconnected world, finding power-ups that permanently expand your abilities to access new areas.
How to Play
Your goal is to locate the three missing treasures from Omsoc hidden across the planet. You begin with no way to defend yourself, so your first priority is finding a Blastola Cola to enable your fireball attack. Use the arrow keys to move, Z to jump, and X to shoot (once armed). Press Enter to pause and view your collected items.
Tips
- Find the Corkscrew early: It significantly increases your jumping height, which is mandatory to reach many higher paths and subsequent power-ups.
- Manage your fireballs: You can only have a few shots on screen at a time. Missing targets leaves you vulnerable until the fireballs travel off-screen, so aim carefully in tight spaces.
