Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of the Lance is an action role-playing game released for the NES in 1991. Based on the classic Dragonlance book series, players take control of eight iconic companions exploring the ruined city of Xak Tsaroth. Rather than a traditional turn-based RPG, this adaptation features side-scrolling platforming and real-time combat as you navigate deadly corridors to retrieve the Disks of Mishakal.

How to Play

Your party consists of eight heroes, each with unique weapons, spells, and health pools, though only one is active on screen at a time. You can swap between them to use their specific strengths, such as Raistlin's magic or Goldmoon's healing. On the NES, use the D-pad (mapped to arrow keys) to move and aim, the A button (Z key) to jump, and the B button (X key) to attack or cast spells. Press Start (Enter) to pause and access the character selection and spell menus.

Tips

• Keep your spellcasters in the back of the marching order to protect them from taking damage, and swap them in only when their magic is needed.
