Survival Kids – Kotou no Boukensha is a pioneering survival RPG released by Konami for the Game Boy Color in 1999. As the original Japanese release of the classic Survival Kids, the game tasks you with staying alive on a deserted island after a shipwreck. Combining top-down exploration with resource management and crafting, it laid the foundation for the Lost in Blue series and remains a deeply replayable adventure with multiple endings.
How to play
Your main objective is to explore the island, manage your vital stats (Food, Water, and Fatigue), and ultimately find a way to escape. You must forage, hunt, and combine items to craft tools and weapons to survive the harsh environment.
- Movement: Arrow Keys (D-pad)
- Action / Confirm: Z (A)
- Cancel / Use Tool: X (B)
- Start: Enter
- Select: Shift
Tips
- Keep your meters full: Prioritize gathering food and water early on, as letting any of your status meters deplete will quickly drain your health.
- Experiment with crafting: Try combining different materials you find; many essential tools and weapons can only be obtained through trial and error in the crafting menu.
- Save frequently: Survival can be unpredictable, and making a mistake while exploring dangerous areas can easily result in a game over.
