Star Fox is a groundbreaking 3D rail shooter released for the SNES in 1993 by Nintendo and Argonaut Software. Powered by the Super FX chip, it introduced fully polygonal graphics to the console as you pilot the Arwing fighter craft to defend the Lylat system from the evil forces of Andross.
How to play
You automatically fly forward through linear 3D stages, aiming your reticle to shoot enemies while dodging obstacles. The SNES controls map to your keyboard: use the Arrow keys to steer, X to fire lasers, and Z to launch nova bombs. Use Q and E (L/R shoulder buttons) to bank your ship or perform a barrel roll to deflect incoming shots. Press Enter to start.
Tips
- Use the barrel roll: Double-tap Q or E to perform a barrel roll, which reflects most standard enemy laser fire and protects your ship.
- Choose your path: At the start of the game, you can select from three different routes to Venom. Level 1 is the easiest, while Level 3 offers the toughest challenge.
- Upgrade your lasers: Keep an eye out for floating twin blaster power-ups. Grabbing them upgrades your single shot to double lasers, making taking down tougher enemies much easier.
