Originally released by Namco in arcades, this NES version of Pac-Man was famously published by Tengen. After a licensing dispute with Nintendo, Tengen released this cartridge as an unlicensed black-shell game. Despite the legal drama behind the scenes, it remains a remarkably accurate port of the arcade classic, bringing the definitive dot-munching maze action directly to the console.
How to Play
Guide Pac-Man through the maze, eating all the dots to clear the stage while avoiding the four ghosts: Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. Consuming one of the four large Power Pellets temporarily turns the ghosts blue, allowing you to eat them for bonus points. Use the D-pad (mapped to arrow keys) to navigate the maze. Press Start (Enter) to begin.
Tips
- Each ghost has a unique behavior pattern: Blinky chases directly, Pinky tries to ambush you, Inky flanks based on Blinky’s position, and Clyde wanders away when he gets too close.
- Use the side tunnels to your advantage; moving through them slows the ghosts down but not Pac-Man, creating a perfect escape route in a pinch.
- There is a famous safe spot: park just above and to the right of the ghost starting box when none are looking at you, and they will never find you.
