Family Pinball (also known as Rock ‘n’ Ball) brings classic arcade bumper action to the NES. Released in 1989, this unique title goes beyond traditional single-player tables by introducing a head-to-head competitive mode where two players battle simultaneously on a double-ended table. The Japanese release notably features cameos from Namco favorites like Pac-Man.
How to Play
The objective on standard tables is to rack up the highest score possible without letting the ball drain past your flippers. In competitive modes, you instead aim to knock the ball past your opponent’s defenses. For browser play, use the arrow keys to nudge the table, Z and X (mapped to A and B) to operate the left and right flippers, and Enter (Start) to launch the ball or pause.
Tips
- In the competitive VS mode, timing your flips is crucial. Catch and hold the ball on your flipper to slow the pace and aim your shots instead of wildly batting it back.
- Focus on hitting the lit targets in sequence on the standard tables, as this activates score multipliers and opens up extra bonuses.
