Dragon Scroll: Resurrection of the Demon Dragon (Yomigaerishi Maryuu) is an overhead action RPG developed by Konami and released for the NES in 1987. Originally a Japan-exclusive title, this version features the complete English translation patch by KingMike. You explore a sprawling, non-linear open world to recover eight stolen magical artifacts needed to prevent the awakening of the evil Chrome Dragon. Like The Legend of Zelda, you will battle enemies in real-time, but Dragon Scroll also incorporates an experience system where defeating foes allows you to wield stronger weapons and magic.
How to Play
Your goal is to explore the territories, solve cryptic environmental puzzles, and defeat bosses to gather all eight artifacts. By default in the web emulator, use the Arrow keys to move, X (A button) to attack, and Z (B button) to use your selected magic or item. Press Enter (Start) to pause or view the status screen, and Shift (Select) to toggle your active magic.
Tips
- Level up early: The game is notoriously difficult right at the start. Spend time grinding enemies in the opening area to increase your health and magic capacity before venturing too far.
- Experiment with magic: Much of the game’s progression is tied to using the right spell in the right place. If you seem stuck, try casting different spells on suspicious obstacles or scenery.
