Game description:

Cosmic Epsilon is an impressive 1989 forward-scrolling rail shooter for the NES, originally released exclusively in Japan by Home Data and Asmik. Drawing strong inspiration from arcade hits like Space Harrier, it pushed the 8-bit hardware to its limits with fast pseudo-3D scaling. You control a transformable robot battling the alien Epsilon Empire, navigating eight intense stages. This version features a full English translation patch by Stardust Crusaders, making its story completely accessible.

How to Play

Dodge incoming fire and blast your way through enemy waves using your standard Vulcan beam and limited homing missiles. Your character will automatically transform between robot and space-fighter modes depending on the stage. The game uses standard NES controls, mapped to your keyboard in the browser:

  • Move: Arrow Keys
  • Fire / Vulcan Beam: Z or X
  • Start/Pause: Enter
  • Toggle 3D Mode: Shift (Select)

Tips

  • Keep moving constantly in a circular or figure-eight pattern to avoid incoming projectiles, as your character has a relatively large hitbox.
  • Save your limited homing missiles for boss encounters or particularly overwhelming waves of enemies.
  • As a fun easter egg, try entering the famous Konami Code at the title screen for a developer joke.
