Game description:

Released for the NES in 1989, Tetris is the quintessential puzzle game that defined a generation. In this iconic title, you must organize a continuous stream of falling tetrominoes to create solid horizontal lines. When a line is completed, it vanishes, clearing space and granting points. The game speeds up as you clear more lines, turning a relaxing puzzle experience into a frantic test of reflexes and spatial awareness.

How to Play

The objective is to clear lines and accumulate the highest score possible before the blocks reach the top of the screen. Use the arrow keys to move the falling pieces left or right, and the down arrow to drop them faster. Press Z and X to rotate the pieces to fit them into your structure. Press Enter to start the game or pause.

Tips

  • Build a well: The most efficient way to score is to leave a single-column gap (usually on the far right) and wait for a long “I” piece to clear four lines at once for a “Tetris.”
  • Play flat: Try to keep your stack of blocks as level as possible. Avoid creating deep valleys or jagged peaks that are difficult to fill with the random pieces you receive.
  • Watch the next piece: Always keep an eye on the “Next” box to plan your upcoming moves before the current piece has even landed.
