Game description:

Fritz is a classic chess program published by ChessBase for DOS in 1991. While often categorized as a puzzle game, it is a fully-featured digital chessboard built around the first iteration of the renowned Fritz engine, offering both a formidable opponent and deep analysis tools.

How to play

The objective is to play standard chess and checkmate the opponent’s king. You can control the game using your keyboard and mouse just as it was originally played on MS-DOS. When running the emulator in your browser, press Right Alt + Enter to toggle fullscreen mode.

Tips

  • Adjust the difficulty: If the engine is playing too strongly, explore the menus to reduce its search depth or decrease its time limit per move.
  • Analyze positions: You can set up specific board states to practice certain scenarios or see how the engine would handle a position from one of your real-life games.
