Pit-Fighter is the 1992 Super NES port of Atari Games’ 1990 arcade brawler, one of the first fighting games built from digitized footage of real actors filmed against a bluescreen rather than hand-drawn or rotoscoped sprites. Players punch and kick their way through a series of street-fight matches, choosing from three fighters: Buzz the wrestler, Ty the kickboxer, and Kato the martial artist. This home version trims the arcade’s crowd-thrown weapons, interactive audience, and three of the original opponents (Southside Jim, Heavy Metal, and Mad Miles), leaving a leaner one-on-one brawler built around the same digitized-actor visuals that made the arcade original stand out.
