Killer Instinct MSU-1 is a fan-made enhancement of the 1995 Super NES port of Rare’s arcade fighting game Killer Instinct, originally published by Nintendo. Created by romhacker gizaha, this patch adds MSU-1 support to the SNES release, replacing its compressed cartridge music with a CD-quality soundtrack streamed from the MSU-1 add-on chip â a mix of the original arcade tracks, cuts from Rare’s Killer Cuts soundtrack album, and remasters by series composer Graeme Norgate. The fighting game itself is untouched: two of ten fighters, including Jago, Sabrewulf, Glacius, Fulgore, and Orchid, face off using the SNES port’s pre-rendered digitized sprites and deep combo system.
How to Play
Deplete your opponent’s health across rounds using strikes, combos, and special moves to win the match. As in the arcade original, landing a combo string opens the door for your opponent to interrupt it with a Combo Breaker if they read your opener correctly, so mixing up your openers pays off.

Tips
- Learn each fighter’s Ultra Combo and finishing-move inputs so you can close out a match with a proper No Mercy or Ultimate rather than a plain knockout.
- Vary your combo openers instead of repeating the same one â a predictable opener is exactly what lets an opponent time a Combo Breaker.
