Game description:

Released in 1993 for the Super NES (known in Japan as Human Grand Prix II), F1 Pole Position is a comprehensive Formula One racing simulator developed by Human Entertainment. Taking advantage of the console’s Mode 7 graphics, it delivers smooth behind-the-car action and lets players compete in full Grand Prix seasons. It stands out for its deep vehicle customisation, allowing you to tweak elements like tyre types, steering response, and transmission to match the demands of different international circuits.

How to Play

Your objective is to master each track’s layout and secure a podium finish against competitive AI racers. Use the arrow keys to steer your vehicle, Z or X to accelerate and brake, and Enter to pause the action. If you’re using a manual transmission, you’ll also need to shift gears as you navigate sharp corners and long straightaways.

Tips

  • Tune for the Track: Always adjust your car’s setup before a race. High-speed tracks require different gear ratios and tyres compared to courses with tight, technical corners.
  • Master the Corners: Braking early and hitting the apex is much faster than sliding around the outside edge. Ease off the throttle when entering sharp turns to maintain control.
