Game description:

UFO Robo Dangar is a classic vertically scrolling arcade shoot ’em up released by Nichibutsu in 1986. Serving as a spiritual successor to the Terra Cresta series, the game challenges you to pilot a small fighter craft and battle waves of alien enemies. As you progress, you can collect and assemble additional ship components, eventually combining them to form the powerful giant mecha, Dangar. The game features fast-paced shooting action, challenging enemy patterns, and the distinct ship-combining mechanic that defined Nichibutsu’s space shooters.

How to Play

Your objective is to survive the enemy onslaught, collect ship parts to combine your fighter into the Dangar robot, and defeat the bosses at the end of each stage. For this arcade title, insert a virtual coin using the Shift key and press Enter to start. Use the Arrow keys to navigate your ship and press Z or X to fire your weapons.

Tips

  • Combine Strategically: Forming the Dangar mecha drastically increases your firepower, but also makes your hitbox larger. If you take a hit while fully combined, you will lose the attachments but your core ship will survive.
  • Formations: Before fully combining, you can split your collected ship parts into a formation for wider attack coverage, which is highly effective against large groups of weaker enemies.
